Secure Installation Locks into Wood Flooring, Gut Removable for Cleaning

Flush With Frame Model Trimline Style Vents

Seats flat on the subfloor. The lift-out vent permits cleaning of the duct throat. Delicate looking, but tough enough for foot traffic. Adjustable dampers are also available in stock the sizes listed.

Flush with frame Vents come stock with 90 degree corners.  45 degree corners are available upon request.  Also note that vents 1/2″ thick or thinner can only be made with 45 degree corners.

Sometimes Stock Won’t Work

We get that.  As a matter of fact, Volko is known for our custom work.

So what can we customize?

Duct Opening:  This is the most common part of the wood vent that we make changes to. The smallest duct opening we can do is 2″, and the largest for one vent we can do is 48″.  Need bigger?  We can make the vent and frame in multiple pieces.

Vent Thickness:  Our standard thickness for flush mount wood vents is 3/4″.  We can go thicker or thinner depending on your needs.  This is most commonly done for engineered floors, or floors that have been sanded in the past.  3/8″ thick is the thinnest we can go.

Rail Width:  We can increase or decrease the width of the “rail” (border) in order to fit your opening needs.

Custom Divider Width: Some customers want one vent to cover two openings, with  a certain amount of space in the middle.  We can do a custom divider (space and size) to cover that area.

Details of Flush with Frame Trimline Vent Construction

Adjustable Dampers Available on Stock Size Flush with Frame Vents

Box Damper

Box Dampers are the traditional style damper installed on wood vents.  The damper extends into the duct, and a small arm protrudes through the face of the vent to open and close the vanes.

This picture shows the actual vanes of the box damper.

EZ Slide Damper

The Easy Slide Damper got it’s name from it’s simplified function and easy attachment.

The metal damper self attaches to guide rails on the Trimline Insert and Flush with Frame vents (standard sizes only). The design allows for airflow control while staying above the duct opening for simplified installation.

Note the vent has to be removed from the floor in order to adjust the damper.

Shop Drawings for Wood Vents

Sometimes your builders, architects, or clients would like a shop drawing of the wood vents before they commit to them. Other times we are doing large custom vent orders and need to confirm that everyone is on the same page. Whatever the case may be, we can help provide you with the information you need.

Stain, Clear Coat, and Custom Finishes

Our wood vents come sanded and ready to finish from the factory. We also provide clear coating services in matte, satin, and gloss.
Want to match your existing flooring or vents? Send us a sample and we will match your finish no problem.

WoodVent Free Air Flow

Wood Vents are more restrictive than metal air registers with the same duct size.  This usually is not a problem, but we can always discuss any concerns you may have  or special applications with our engineers.

For the Trimline style wood vents, there is a 60% reduction in free area caused by the vent louvers.  This means a 10×10 duct will have 40 square inches of free area once a trimline vent is installed.

Again, feel free to call for any assistance with air velocities and sizing.
